The City of Garretson is hiring for a Branch Pile Attendant!
Position Summary
The Branch Pile Attendant is responsible for monitoring the city’s branch and yard waste disposal site. This position ensures residents follow disposal guidelines, maintains a safe and orderly environment, and assists in the proper management of brush and organic waste materials. This is a part time and seasonal position from May 1st until October 31st weather permitting.
Key Responsibilities
• Greet and direct residents using the branch pile site.
• Verify proof of residency before allowing disposal.
• Maintain records on Ipad that will be provided.
• Monitor and enforce rules regarding accepted materials (branches, brush, yard waste) and prohibited items (construction debris, garbage, hazardous waste, etc.).
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of the site, including organizing piles and reporting hazards.
• Provide basic customer service and answer questions about site use and city disposal policies.
• Operate light equipment or tools (rakes, cones, signage) as needed.
• Report equipment or maintenance issues to Public Works staff.
Will stay open until position is filled.
Hours are Tuesday and Thursday 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 am until 12:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, August 13th, Astech (Asphalt Surface Technologies Corporation) will be placing a slurry seal on the asphalt roadways listed below. If you reside or are employed along one of these roadways, please have your vehicle moved by 7:30AM. The roadways will be reopened to traffic within a couple hours following the slurry seal application. Please keep all vehicles off of the newly applied surface until the “Road Closed” barricades and cones have been removed.
Sarah C Street – From 700 Sarah C Street east through the cul-de-sac
Lacy Avenue - From Leslie Drive to the end of asphalt south of Sarah C Street
Third Street – From S Depot Avenue east to 486th Avenue (Oak Drive), excluding the Main Avenue intersection
Elvira Drive – From 917 Elvira Drive north through cul-de-sac”
