The Code Enforcement Officer oversees the city in following ordinances. City codes play an important role in protecting the health, safety and welfare of Garretson citizens. They also help to maintain the attractive appearance of neighborhoods and protect property values.

The Building Inspector is responsible for safeguarding the public health, safety, and general welfare by reviewing and inspecting all new construction, remodeling and repairs in accordance with the State Building Code and City regulations. Although you can get building permits at City Hall, JR will be the guy to call and will oversee your project to it's completion. 

The City of Garretson contracts the Code Enforcement Officer and the Building Inspector.
